Game of Thones

A Game of Thrones is the 1st book of George RR Martin´s a "Song of Ice and Fire" medieval epic fantasy novels.
The novel is written on a epic scale and give us many details through his multi-layered universe, absorbing us from begining with great characters, a impresive plot and unexpected success. Because  Martin´s a true master using cliffhangers.

The entire novel is written from diferent points of view, givin us the view of every character as narrator.
All characters are great and well constructed, and the most important thing: they are uniques. Each one have a story to tell.

But I don´t go to tell you about the plot because is very complex and I don´t want to spoil. But I go to tell you a bit more about the enviroment.

In this epic world the seasons shift very slowly. It will be summer for years and winter for years. The story start when that summer is beginning to fade, and the winter is comming.

There are 7 kingdoms that are ruled by a king "The King of the Iron Throne" but every kingdom has a Lord that serve to the king and his family. These most important families are the house Stark of Winterfell, the house Lannister, the house Baratheon (the King is Robert, a Baratheon), the house Targaryen, the house Arrin, the house Martell, and the house Tyrell.

The main characters are Stank and Lannister, and they will show us how is this impressive world. All the stories are wired, and every action can suppose a new fate for another character.

The story starts when the King Robert go to the north, to the iced domains of Wintelfell, to propose being his Hand to his old friend Need Stark, Lord of Winterfell...

This is the best novel I read since Bladimir Bartol´s "Alamut"

HBO series are also very good.
By now, there are only 5 novels but Martin wants to write 2 more in the furure.
